Lawn Food Court:

The Lawn Canteen, located within Blocks W4 and W6, accessible via lift or Lawn field from level 3. This is the canteen that would be packed during humid hot weather! It is the only fully air-conditioned food court in Republic Polytechnic that features some of the favourites according to the students. Food choices include Indonesian Ayam Penyet,  Ban Mian, Taiwan delights (Hotplate), Fishball Noodles etc. If you happen to see another long queue near the Ayam Penyet stall, that could be the Bubble Tea stall! It is a popular drink amongst the students as it allows customization, adding different chewy toppings to their preference. But fret not if you're in a rush and want some bubbly blended drinks as well. Simply move to the other side where you'll see the fruit stall, that's the other stall that sells bubble tea! It's just a few steps away.

Oh, and not to forget, the Ayam Penyet is a one food item that most muslim friends would recommend! Due to limited availability of Halal food in the school, the Ayam Penyet is really a must try, even for non-muslim friends!

Things that they could improve on is probably when the queue for some stalls is long, store vendors can have more people in taking the orders and preparation of the food to fasten the speed of queues.
 

 North Food Court:

North Canteen is located near block W6 of Republic Polytechnic. The food court consist of many stores which includes Western, Japanese, Nasi lemak, Ban mian fish soup, Mixed rice, vegetarian, chicken rice, roti prata, fruit juice and etc. The most popular store in North canteen is the Western store which there is always a long queue during lunch hour. They offers cheap yet delicious western food which had attracted many students from Republic polytechnic.

North canteen is a open space canteen with non air-conditioned environment. There are lots of seats available as there is another platform of seats available. Not only that, there is also small stores by the side selling lok lok, waffles, tako ball, corn cup and etc. This adds value to North canteen as there is more choices available for students to choose from.

The only bad thing about North canteen is that it is quite unhygienic as it is open space and is always inviting in birds which then causes the canteen to be very dirty and unhygienic.

What they can improve on is have the ventilation of this canteen checked, to see if there is any problem with the ventilation.

 

 

FACILITIES

 

 

 

 

Both canteens, Lawn and Eco, had  lift and staircase for straight access to the food court whereby they are connected to all floors in respective buildings. The seats available are more than enough to fit the customers during the peak hours (eg. lunch). There is a handicapped toilet which is useful for those who are disabled. There is also a washing area right outside the toilets, convenient for those people who just wants to wash their hands without having to use the toilet. There is also a return tray area for people to return their trays/utensils after meal. It is an easier task for cleaners so that they won’t have to clear table by table. There is also a vending machine available at Eco for those who doesn't want to queue.

ENVIRONMENT

The Lawn

The Lawn is an air conditioned space as people who love a more comfortable space to eat. The Lawn is much more hygienic to eat as there are no flies as there are better ventilation system. But The Lawn is not a very nice place to talk loudly as it may be create noise that cause discomfort to while you’re eating as it’s not good at absorbing the voice because it’s a closed space.

 

Eco Canteen

 

Eco’s Canteen is an open air canteen it’s for people who love looking at natural and enjoy their food at the same time. It’s much lively because people can talk with a suitable volume or rather louder because it can absorb the noise better compare to The Lawn which is an air-conditioned closed environment which is not very good at spreading the voice. Eco canteen is clean but the air in eco canteen is not so good compare to The Lawn because the ventilation is not strong enough to keep the smell off. Eco canteen has flies which is not very hygienic compared to The Lawn as the bins in eco canteen attracts flies.

 Improvement to eco canteen can be the ventilation add more ventilation to remove smell in the air to make eco canteen a better air to breathe in. To eliminate flies they can keep the dustbin closed at all times to prevent files coming.
